He began his career as a Kitchen Executive Trainee at the President Hotel in Mumbai, he was soon lured by the exciting life on a cruise liner. He spent six years travelling and experiencing local cuisines in and around the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.
Returning to Mumbai for a few short months and experiencing being a part of the opening team of Indigo Deli, he soon relocated to the UK with his family. In the UK he had the privilege of working under the famous celebrity, Chef Raymond Blanc at his Brasserie Blanc. Here, he realized that he had become passionate about cooking; having learned what classical French cooking was all about at the Brasserie.
Five years later, he returned to Mumbai and re-joined Indigo group, where he learned the intricacies of running a professional kitchen.
Amit went on to work his magic in the test kitchen of the BBC Good Food Magazine. He created innovative dishes and learnt food styling. Here it gave him the opportunity to work with many of top Indian and International Chefs, continuing the learning process from them all the while.
Currently, Amit has taken over as Corporate Chef at D’lecta Foods and conceptualised its website Humbhichef.com and their training kitchen studio. He will be using these platforms to share his experiences from all over the world with fellow food enthusiasts.
Recently, he was included in a book launched by IHM Mumbai which lists the Top 60 chefs from the past 60 years who have graduated from this elite institute.
